Needing to be on the road for a Sunday afternoon contest against Texas Arlington, the Cowgirls (5-2 overall, 1-2 Big 12) and Aggies (7-3 overall, 3-1 Big 12) were forced to wait through a 3-hour, 32-minute rain delay.
OSU started things off with a victory at the No. 1 doubles slot. Senior Linda Faltynkova and junior Katya Kolodynska held off Ashley Hedberg and Lauren Walker, 8-6.
The Aggies were able to claim the doubles point by winning at the No. 2 and No. 3 slots. Jessica Roland and Roberta Spencer dominated the Cowgirl duo of Erin Pauchnik and Gorana Marsic, 8-2.
Seva Iwinski and Nicki Mechem overpowered the sophomore duo of Ewa Radzikowska and Ines Furtmayr en route to a 8-3 decision.
The Cowgirls luck would not change in singles competition.
Taking an advantage into the rain delay, Faltynkova was unable to hold off a late surge by Roland, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4.
The first OSU point of the match came when senior Kate Vasylyeva defeated Walker in straight sets, 7-5, 7-6 (7).
The long rain delay proved once again to be a factor as Kolodynska led Spencer at the No. 3 singles going into the break. Spencer was able to come from behind and defeat the Cowgirl junior, 5-7, 6-0, 6-1.
Ewa Radzikowska rounded out the OSU scoring with a come from behind victory at the No. 4 singles position over Hedberg, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (5).
The Cowgirls dropped the final two singles points. Freshman Zana Masnic was dispatched by Mechem in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. Furtmayr was unable to fare any better against Iwinski, falling 6-3, 6-3.
After a match that lasted 6-hours and 49-minutes, the Cowgirls must prepare for a 2:00 showdown with the University of Texas at Arlington (1-2 overall) at the UTA Tennis Center in Arlington Texas on Sunday, March 2.
The Cowgirls will be looking to end their 2-game losing streak.
