COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team faced its 10th ranked opponent of the dual season Sunday as the Cowgirls fell to No. 74 Missouri, 4-3, at Bethel Park.
“We had two matches that we lost 6-4 in the third set, so we had our chances and didn't step up,” coach Chris Young said. “I give a lot of credit to Missouri for doing that, but we have to be tougher in the key moments.”
Although several matches were closely contested and the Tigers swept doubles, the Cowgirls were later awarded the doubles point to go up, 1-0.
In singles play, C.C. Sardinha and Kanyapat Narattana picked up wins at Nos. 4 and 5 over MU's Marlen Hacke and Jamie Mera, respectively, but the Tigers won at Nos. 1, 2, and 3 to get the 4-2 team victory.
OSU's Sasha Belova and Malika Rose took their Nos. 2 and 3 matches into a third set, but fell in hard-fought matches.
Due to time restraints, the No. 6 match between Sarah Meghoufel and Rachel Stuhlmann was left unfinished after the first set. Stuhlmann was later given credit for the win.
The Cowgirls resume play April 8 when they take on the Texas Longhorns in Austin.
