Cowgirls Come Up Short Against Gamecocks, 13-7

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The No. 5 Oklahoma State equestrian team fell to the fourth-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks, 13-7, on Saturday at the One Wood Farms Equestrian Center.
"Our second loss of the weekend is tough but I did see a lot of promise out of this very young and talented team,” coach Larry Sanchez said. "We're looking forward to returning home to compete against Baylor next weekend."
Even though the Cowgirls suffered another overall team loss, the western team continues to roll with a 2-0 record to start the season. The Cowgirl western squad beat the Gamecocks in raw scores 663.5 - 638.
Katy Krshka received her second Most Outstanding Player of the weekend, this time in the horsemanship category. She had the high score in the event with a 79.
Jenna Blumer won her first Most Outstanding Player of the season with a high score of 72.5 in the reining.
The hunt seat squad fell 8-2, losing the equitation overs fences 0-5 and losing equitation on the flat 2-3.
The Cowgirls will open their Big 12 Conference schedule when they host the Baylor Bears on Oct. 6 at the Animal Science Arena.
