Cowgirls Win in Dramatic Fashion

STILLWATER— Oklahoma State's third-ranked equestrian team defeated No. 4 South Carolina on Saturday at the Animal Science Arena in raw scores, 1461.5-1393.
Trailing, 9-6, with just the Reining portion of the meet left, the Cowgirls rallied and defeated the Gamecocks 4-1 in Reining.
Helping lead the rally were junior's Jenna Blumer and Mackenzie Fugitt, sophomore Katy Krshka and Freshmen Justine Peters. Their wins tied the overall score at 10-10, but the Cowgirls would win the tiebreaker with a 1461.5-1393 victory in raw scores.
Katy Krshka continued her winning ways on Saturday, picking up her sixth MOP in Reining and 12th overall.
The Western team continued its dominance winning 7-3 and improving to 12-1 on the season. Horsemanship won 3-2 with strong performances from Lindsey McMullen, Ty Paris and Katy Krshka.
The Hunter Seat team fell 7-3, with Equitation on the flat falling 4-1 and Over Fences losing 3-2 despite a high score of 82 from Andrea Robbins. Joining Robbins with a victory in fences was sophomore Allie Joyce. Ali Rose had the lone win of the day in the flat.
"I am very pleased to come away with the win today." coach Larry Sanchez said. "It took a total team effort and the girls fought hard to the end. South Carolina is a very good team and I commend them for their performance today."
The Cowgirls will close out the regular season next Saturday, when Oklahoma State travels to Manhattan, Kan. to compete against No. 8 Kansas State at Timbercreek Stables. Saturday's meet will begin at 10 a.m. and fans can follow the scores from Manhattan by following @OSUEquestrian.
