Cowgirl Equestrian Knocks Off No. 2 Auburn

The No. 7 Oklahoma State equestrian team concluded its weekend in Delaware with a thrilling 11-9 victory over No. 2 Auburn, Saturday at the Gambler's Choice Equestrian Center.
OSU (4-2) earned its fourth-straight victory this season with the win over the Tigers (7-2).
Senior Ali Rose got the ball rolling for the Cowgirls when she picked up a 93-48 win over Christina Lin, earning the first of three Most Outstanding Performer awards for OSU on the day. Samantha Harrison continued where she left off with her 90-83 win over Tory Hoft. Freshman Jorden Davis also picked up her fifth win of the season with and 82-63 victory over Demi Steigler.
Later in the day, Harrison earned a score of 90 again, this time in the over fences discipline with her 90-55 win over Quincy Hayes. The score gave her a third Most Outstanding Performer honor in two days. Davis picked up her second win of the day with a 70-45 victory over Jennifer Waxman and senior Sammy Elser defeated Elizabeth Benson, 89-76.
Over in horsemanship, three riders earned points for the Cowgirls. Senior Lauren Halvorson picked up a 73.5-71.5 win over Griffin Knight. Junior Katy Krshka recorded a 66- 62.5 victory over Danielle Long and sophomore Ty Paris defeated Lucy Igoe in a close 67-66 match. The three Cowgirls are a combined 15-3 in the discipline this season.
In the reining event, senior Jenna Blumer earned a Most Outstanding Performer award for her 71.5-68 win over Hailey Munger, her second of the year. Also, sophomore Justine Peters picked up a 70-66.5 win over Griffin Knight, her fifth win of the season.
The Cowgirls will celebrate this weekend's victories with a bye week before returning to action at home Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. against No. 5 Kansas State.
