Cowgirls Fall to No. 17 Baylor

Oklahoma State's women's tennis team dropped its first Big 12 match of the season on Friday evening, falling to 17th-ranked Baylor, 5-2.
"It's disappointing because we didn't play well today, but I give Baylor a lot of credit for that," Cowgirl tennis coach Chris Young said. "They were very disciplined and executed in key moments. I believe we will learn from this and improve as we move forward."
The Bears took two of three doubles matches from the Cowgirls (12-6, 6-1 Big 12) to take the doubles point and the early lead.
Viktoriya Lushkova and Kanyapat Narattana made up the lone Cowgirl tandem to notch a win in doubles, defeating Victoria Kisialeva and Jordaan Sanford, 8-6, on one. The win was the duo's 12th win of the spring season in the No. 1 doubles spot for the Cowgirls.
The Bears were too much for the Cowgirl doubles teams on two and three to handle, however. Baylor posted 8-4 victories on the back two courts to seal the doubles point.
Cowgirl junior Karyn Guttormsen tied the match at one with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph on five. The win marks Guttormsen's seventh-straight and 19th of the season.
Baylor's Blair Shankle responded with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Katarina Adamovic on four to put the Bears up, 2-1.
Baylor clinched the match with wins on two and three. Freshman Megan McCray fell to 97th-ranked Ema Burgic, 6-4, 6-4, on two before Narattana dropped her match, 6-4, 6-3, to No. 56 Jordaan Sanford on three.
After the Bears clinched the match, Lushkova notched an impressive three-set victory over No. 51 Kiah Generette. The freshman won a 10-4 third-set tiebreaker to take her 13th win in her last 14 matches.
Carla Tur Mari fell, 4-6, 6-4, 10-5, to Alex Clay on six to finish off the match.
The Cowgirls will look to bounce back when they travel to Austin, Texas, on Sunday to face the 22nd-ranked Texas Longhorns at noon. The match will be televised live on the Longhorn Network.
