Cowgirl Tennis Ends Play At ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – Ayumi Miyamoto and No. 43 Lisa Rioux competed at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. throughout the week and completed their final matches on Friday.
Lisa Rioux competed in the round of 16 on Friday. The Cowgirl would face No. 7 Sara Daavettila but would fall in a competitive match, 6-0, 4-6, 6-0. Of the 24 total games played in the three-set match, 13 of them were forced to deuce to be decided.
Freshman Cowgirl Ayumi Miyamoto competed in two matches in the consolation draw of the tournament on Friday. In her first match, Miyamoto defeated No. 120 Rebeka Mertena of Tennessee, 6-3, 7-5. In her second-round match, Miyamoto would face No. 98 Rebeka Stolmar of UCF but would lose, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.
Miyamoto finished her tournament run with four total wins, while Lisa Rioux found herself competing in the round of 16 and upsetting No. 28 Katya Townsend of Texas A&M on her way there.
Rioux, Miyamoto and more of the Cowgirls will pick up play again when they compete ITA Central Regional Championships beginning on Oct. 17 in Norman, Okla.
