STILLWATER - Oklahoma State's women's tennis duo of Ayumi Miyamoto and Mhai Sawangkaew defeated Texas Tech's Kailey Evans and Avelina Sayfetdinova, 8-4, to win the doubles championship at the Big 12 Fall Invite at the Greenwood Series Tennis Center on Sunday morning.
Sawangkaew and Miyamoto's run started Friday morning, where they took down West Virginia's Michaela Kucharova and Kendall Kovick, 8-6, to advance to the quarterfinals.
On Saturday, the Cowgirl duo moved on to the semifinals due to injury default. In the semifinal match, Miyamoto and Sawangkaew dominated the Oklahoma duo of Alexandra Pisereva and Layne Sleeth, 8-3, to advance to today's championship match.
The conclusion of today's tournament closes out a successful fall campaign for the Cowgirls. The spring dual season begins on Jan. 19 at home against Princeton.
