Rojas Crowned Champion At ITA Intercollegiate Championships

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Sofia Rojas defeated No. 7 Claudia De Las Heras of the University of San Diego, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, to win the singles championship at the inaugural ITA Intercollegiate Championships in San Diego, Calif. on Sunday afternoon.
By virtue of winning, Rojas will earn a wild card to a professional tournament.
On the other side of the country, Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez represented the Cowgirls at the ITA All-Americans in Cary, N.C.
Miyamoto won her first match of the day in straight sets, 7-6 (6), 6-1, against Marcella Cruz of Vanderbilt but ultimately fell short versus Camille Kiss of the University of California in Santa Barbara, 4-6, 5-7.
Gonzalez dropped her match to Sonya Macavei of Vanderbilt, 4-6, 5-7.
Kristina Novak will be the lone Cowgirl in action tomorrow as she will play in the qualifying bracket for singles tomorrow morning at the ITA All-Americans.
