STILLWATER – Members of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team wrapped up play across two tournaments in California on Sunday.
The day began with a Cowgirl being crowned champion in San Francisco. Lucia Peyre, along with her partner Savannah Broadus from Pepperdine, defeated the Stanford duo of Connie Ma and Angelica Blake, 8-5, to claim the Battle in the Bay doubles title.
In San Diego, two Cowgirl doubles teams advanced to face each other in the USTA Intercollegiate Championships final. Top-seeded tandem Anastasiya Komar and Raquel Gonzalez defeated Claudia De Las Heras and Jordyn McBride of the University of San Diego, 7-5. Safiya Carrington and Kristina Novak also advanced by way of a walkover. The two Oklahoma State teams will return to Stillwater to play out the final at the Greenwood Tennis Center later this week.
In singles, Carrington competed as the lone Cowgirl in the semifinals, falling to Mia Mack of the University of San Diego, 4-6, 6-7 (5-7).
Members of the Oklahoma State team will be back in action next week across two events: the Templeton 60k pro circuit even in Templeton, California, and the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina.
