Filiatreau named NCEA’s Reining Rider of the Month
December 11, 2024 | Cowgirl Equestrian
STILLWATER, Okla — The National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced Monday that Oklahoma State equestrian's Emma Filiatreau has been named the Arion Sellier Reining Rider of the Month for November.
It's Filiatreau's first time receiving the national monthly award and her second overall recognition this season after earning the Big 12 Conference's honor for November. She is the first Cowgirl this season to earn the NCEA's monthly award.
With her accomplishment, Filiatreau becomes just the 11th Cowgirl in program history to earn the NCEA's monthly honor in Reining. Molly Mitchell was the last to do so, earning the title in March 2023.
A sophomore out of Bardstown, Ky., Filiatreau started off the season hot, going 6-2 in the fall. She went 4-0 in November, averaging over 73 points per ride, and also captured back-to-back MOPs against SMU and Fresno State.
Against Fresno State, Filiatreau scored an event-high 74.5 to earn her second MOP of the season. Her 74.5 points was also a career high.
Filiatreau concluded the fall season with her biggest win, a 72.5-66.5 win at UC Davis. She had the highest Reining score in the meet and her largest margin of victory this season.
She will enter spring competition on a four-ride win streak.
