Cowgirl Equestrian Wins Fifth Straight Big 12 Title

FORT WORTH, Texas —Oklahoma State defeated TCU, 11-8, to earn its fifth consecutive and 11th overall Big 12 title Saturday at KSM Bear Creek Farms.
Riley Hogan led the way for OSU, earning the tournament MOP in Fences, going undefeated in the tournament.
After the contest, Riley Hogan was named the Big 12 Flat Rider of the Year, and the Big 12 Fences Co-Rider of the Year, along with TCU's Ashleigh Scully.
In addition, Hogan, Claire McDowall, June Roberson, Abby Budd and Emma Filiatreau earned All-Big 12 accolades for their season-long performances.
Saturday's meet began with Fences and Horsemanship as OSU's Fences squad claimed a 4-1 win for the fourth time this season, with the last time coming against Fresno State.
Riley Hogan and Bella Holway led the way with an 89.67- and 86.33-point performance, respectively. This marks season-high scores for the Cowgirl duo. Emma Hechtman's winning streak continued to four in her freshman season. Mackenzie Carreras came through and solidified the final point in the event for OSU.
In Horsemanship, the Cowgirls claimed the team advantage for the 11th time this season. Roberson, Bella D'Onofrio and Peyton Baxter scored the three points for the Cowgirls. Roberson and D'Onofrio concluded the tournament undefeated.
Roberson's win was the 11th of the season, scoring at least a 75 in nine contests on the year. Baxter got her fifth win and earned her second highest-point total with a 74.83. The Cowgirls entered halftime with a 7-3 lead.
After an intermission, the meet continued with Flat and Reining.
The Cowgirls lost the team advantage in Flat, 4-1, making it an 8-7 meet going into the final event. The lone point in Flat came from Hogan, who scored a new career-high of 90.33.
The Reining squad closed out the tournament with clutch performances from Filiatreau, Tristan Bagby and Ava Bush.
Filiatreau's point put the Cowgirls within one point of the victory. Bagby scored a 70.67 to secure the victory for Oklahoma State. The final point of the meet came from Bush, who defeated TCU's Sydney Sargent, 72-69.83.
The Cowgirls travel to Ocala, Florida, next to compete for the national title with a 9-5 record and 5-3 conference record. The tournament starts April 17.
