Cowgirl Tennis Sweeps Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Oklahoma State's No. 33 ranked women's tennis team completed an undefeated weekend with a 4-0 sweep of Cincinnati on Sunday at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center.
The Cowgirls are now 9-6 on the season and 3-1 in conference play, and they have wins in back-to-back matches for the first time since ITA Kickoff Weekend on Jan. 25-26, when they beat Clemson and Arkansas.
Just as it did on Friday against West Virginia, OSU struck first by winning the doubles point. The No. 69 pair of Anastasiya Komar and Rose Marie Nijkamp improved to 11-2 on the season with a 6-1 win over Rozalia Gruzczynska and Gabrielle Guenther.
Gracie Epps and Melisa Ercan accounted for the other Cowgirl doubles win, beating Zeynep Erman and Callie Flanagan, 6-1, to clinch the point. Marcela Lopez and Alian Zack were leading Morgan Pyrz and Sakurako Watanabe, 3-2, when their match was stopped.
In singles, Nijkamp extended her win streak to six when she beat Guenther, 6-0, 6-3. No. 49 Epps was the next to finish as she defeated Milica Popovski, 6-1, 6-2, followed by No. 81 Komar clinching the match with a win over Gruzczynska, 6-4, 6-2.
In the three singles matches that went unfinished, Ercan led Erman, 6-1, 4-2, while No. 105 Lopez was ahead of Watanabe, 7-6 (7-4) and Zack trailed Isabel Pacheco, 7-5.
Oklahoma State will continue its stretch of road matches next weekend, beginning with a bout against Kansas State on Friday at 4 p.m. before taking on No. 20 Pepperdine on Sunday at 4 p.m. CT.
