Cowgirl Golf holds 36-hole lead at Big 12 Championship
April 16, 2025 | Cowgirl Golf
Hockley, Texas - Oklahoma State sits atop the team and individual leaderboards with 18 holes to play at the 2025 Big 12 Women's Golf Championship.
Â
While the field faltered amidst hot and windy conditions at Houston Oaks, the Cowgirls steadily climbed, shooting 1-over par in Wednesday's second round to move up three spots in the team standings. They're 6-over through 36 holes – two shots clear of second-place Houston (+8) and three ahead of TCU (+9) heading into Thursday's final round.
Â
Sophomore Marta Silchenko fired a 69 (-2) to secure a three-way tie for first place with TCU's Camille Min-Gaultier and Houston's Natalie Saint German at 2-under par.
Â
"I'm really proud of the way they played today," head coach Greg Robertson said. "We saw a lot of disciplined golf on a course that tests every part of your game. It was great to see them finish strong, especially when the wind started to pick up."
Â
On a day where 10 of the 14 schools shot +10 or higher, the Cowgirls avoided trouble spots. They were the only team without a double-bogey.
Â
OSU has been particularly strong on par 5s, shooting 8-under as a team – four strokes ahead of the next closest team, Arizona (-4). They've also carded a tournament-best 31 birdies for the week.
Â
Nine of those birdies belong to Silchenko who will join Min-Gaultier and Germain in the final group on Thursday. She's looking to become the 12th Cowgirl to a win a Big 12 individual title, as OSU takes aim at a 12th team championship.
Â
Junior Grace Kilcrease fired a team-best, 3-under, 68 to play herself into contention. She's tied for sixth place and just two strokes off the lead.
Â
Ellie Bushnell finished an up-and-down day with momentum, shooting 1-over for the round to join teammate Summer Lee in a tie for 18th place.
Â
Lee, a freshman appearing in her first postseason tournament, shot a 5-over, 76.
Â
Lucy Darr subbed in for Tarapath Panya in Wednesday's lineup and finished at 6-over.
