Cowgirls headed to Arizona for NCAA Regional

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State's quest for a fifth straight trip to the NCAA Women's Golf Championship will begin in the desert.

The Cowgirls earned the No. 5 seed in the Gold Canyon Regional, May 5-7 at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club near Phoenix, Ariz.

The Jack Nicklaus designed course features perfectly manicured greens and challenging design made to test golfers at the highest level.

Each of the top five finishers in the 14-team regional will advance to the NCAA Championship's final site, May 16-21 in Carlsbad, Calif. with an additional invitation extended to the top individual from a non-advancing team.

OSU has qualified for NCAA regional competition in 31 of the 32 full seasons since the format was introduced and reached the final site 22 times in that span. This will be the Pokes' sixth regional in the Copper State but first since 2003.

The Gold Canyon Regional includes eight of the nation's top 50 teams, including Big Ten champion Oregon (No. 5) and regional host Arizona State (No. 8).

OSU is No. 29 on the latest national list with junior Grace Kilcrease (No. 35) and sophomore Marta Silchenko (No. 88) both among the top-100 individually. Kilcrease will be the sixth-highest rated golfer in the Gold Canyon Field.
