Cowgirl Golf in seventh after windy second round at NCAA Championship
May 18, 2025 | Cowgirl Golf
Carlsbad, Calif. - Oklahoma State remains in strong position for both team and individual success after 36 holes at the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
Junior Grace Kilcrease shot a 1-under 71 in Saturday's second round to move into a tie for third on the individual leaderboard with two rounds to play. She's three strokes behind leader Avery Weed of Mississippi State.
The Cowgirls dropped from second to seventh in the team standings after battling difficult afternoon conditions but remain eight shots clear of the 16th-place cut line at 5-over par. The top 15 teams after Sunday's third round will advance, with the top eight after Monday's fourth round moving on to match play.
"I was happy with the way they fought out there," head coach Greg Robertson said. "We finished really strong. It wasn't playing easy due to the wind and the pin placements, but we found a way to get the ball in the hole and keep ourselves in a good position."
Oklahoma State carded the third-lowest team score among the 15 afternoon groups. Kilcrease was one of only three golfers to shoot under par, going bogey-free on the back nine for the second straight day.
She now has 21 rounds of par or better this season, one shy of the program record shared by Maddison Hinson-Tolchard, Caroline Hedwall and Maja Stark.
Freshmen Summer Lee and Tarapath Panya each shot 3-over 75 in round two. Sophomores Marta Silchenko (+4, 76) and Ellie Bushnell (+6, 78) sit tied for 43rd and 67th, respectively.
The Cowgirls will be paired with No. 8 Arizona State and former Big 12 rival Texas in Sunday's third round, with tee times beginning at 9:25 a.m. CT.
