Cowgirls hold second heading into final round of Gold Canyon Regional
May 06, 2025 | Cowgirl Golf
Gold Canyon, Ariz. – Consistency was the theme of the day for the Oklahoma State women's golf team, which survived wet morning conditions to post an even-par, 288 in Tuesday's second round and maintain its hold on second place at the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional.
The Cowgirls have carded 121 pars through the first two days of competition – tops among the 12-team field – and are just four strokes behind first-place Oregon heading into Wednesday's final round.
Most importantly, the Cowgirls (currently 1-under par) are 21 strokes ahead of sixth-place Cal State Fullerton. The top-five teams will advance to next week's NCAA Championship in Carlsbad, Calif.
"It was another solid round today," head coach Greg Robertson said. "We're seeing a lot of disciplined golf from all of them, especially with these firm greens and tucked hole locations. It's going to be a competitive day tomorrow, and we're looking for much of the same from the first two days to have a strong finish."
OSU once again took advantage of the longest holes at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club, shooting a combined 8-under on par 5s through the first two days of competition with a tournament-low 4.80 stroke average.
Three Cowgirls are among the top 10 on the individual leaderboard, led by sophomore Marta Silchenko, who fired a round two score of 69 (-3) to finish the day in a tie for third place -- nine shots back of Oregon's No. 3 Kiara Romero. Silchenko is no stranger to regional success, having posted a final-round 67 a year ago to help punch the Cowgirls' 2024 NCAA championship ticket.
Grace Kilcrease, the nation's 35th-ranked golfer, carded a 2-under 70, to grab a share of fifth place. The junior has finished at-or-below par in 18 of her 34 rounds this season.
Ellie Bushnell went bogey-free over the final 15 holes to finish 1-over for the day and in sole possession of 10th on the leaderboard.
The two freshmen in the lineup, Tarapath Panya and Summer Lee, put down a 76 and 78, respectively.
The Cowgirls will be paired with fifth-ranked Oregon and No. 8 Arizona State for tomorrow's final round. Tee times will go off starting at 10 a.m. CT.
