Brian Musau wins 10,000 Meter gold at World University Games
July 23, 2025 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
BOCHUM, Germany – Oklahoma State track & field star Brian Musau continued his dominant 2025 track season, taking home the gold at the World University Games in the 10,000 Meters with his time of 28:42.39.
Musau delivered another strategic gem, holding at the rear of the lead pack in a tactical race before exploding to the lead with just over 400 meters to go. He was then able to hold off Northern Arizona and Great Britain's David Mullarkey and the rest of the pack as he charged to the win.
Musau adds his first international medal to an already phenomenal sophomore campaign that includes a pair of NCAA titles in the indoor and outdoor 5,000 Meters, a Big 12 title in the indoor 3,000 Meters and a victory at the Sunset Tour against a field of professional athletes in which he ran the second-fastest 5K time in NCAA history all-dates with his mark of 12:59.82.
He was named a Bowerman semifinalist and swept the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Athlete of the Year awards this past season indoors, outdoors and in cross country. In just two seasons as a Cowboy, Musau already has accumulated three NCAA titles, eight first team All-America honors and four Big 12 individual championships.
