EUGENE, Ore. – Former Cowgirl thrower and U.S. Olympian Chase Jackson (Ealey) won her ninth U.S. title in the Shot Put at the U.S. Outdoor Championships Saturday with her throw of 20.84 meters.
Jackson dominated the proceedings from the start, launching her 20.84 meter throw on her first attempt and was the only woman to clear 20 meters in the competition, which she did four times out of six total attempts. Her winning toss was just shy of her national record mark of 20.95 meters, which she set last month at the Iron Wood Classic in Idaho.
Jackson already had a bye to the World Athletics Championships next month as the back-to-back defending world champion and she will look to defend her titles in Tokyo as the No. 1 ranked Shot Putter in the world currently.
Another former Cowgirl, Sinclaire Johnson, also punched her ticket to the World Athletics Championships with her second-place finish in the 1,500 Meters. Johnson will be making her third appearance at the World Outdoor Championships after making the 1,500 Meter team in both 2022 and 2023.
