Cowgirl Tennis Falls to No. 14 Tennessee, 4-3

Evanston, Ill. – Oklahoma State's No. 8 ranked women's tennis team lost a thriller to No. 14 Tennessee, on Sunday afternoon at the Combe Tennis Center in Evanston, Illinois.
The Cowgirls fall to 3-3 with the loss and will have next weekend off before hosting No. 13 Michigan on Feb. 21 and No. 10 Ohio State on Feb. 22.
As always, the match began with doubles, with Tennessee winning on courts one and two to earn the point. This is the first match of the season where OSU didn't earn the doubles point. First, No. 17 Catherine Aulia and Leyla Britez Risso defeated Anastasiya Komar and Rose Marie Nijkamp, 6-3, before Vanesa Suarez and Francesca Mattioli defeated Olivia Lincer and Marcela Lopez, 6-3, to clinch the point.
On court three, Lucia Peyre and Luca Udvardy trailed Saray Yli-Piipari and Maeve Thornton, 2-5, before their match was abandoned due to Tennessee clinching the point.
In singles play, Tennessee extended their lead when court four was retired due to an injury. OSU stormed back, with Udvardy defeating Yli-Piipari, 6-3, 6-4, before Lopez earned her first win of the season, besting Audrey Aulia, 6-4, 6-4.
OSU took the lead with Lincer picking up another singles win, defeating Suarez, 6-2, 7 7-6 5.
With the match on the line, Tennessee's No. 32 Britez Risso defeated Komar, 6-4, 6 6-7 8, 6-2. With the match tied, No. 87 Aulia outlasted No. 19 Nijkamp in a three-set battle, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, to put the deciding point on the board for the Lady Volunteers.
