Cowgirl Tennis Falls to Utah

STILLWATER – No. 25 Oklahoma State lost to No. 33 Utah, 4-0, on Thursday afternoon at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center.
The loss drops the Cowgirls to 8-7 overall with a 6-3 record in Big 12 play. Utah improves to 13-5 and 6-2 in the Big 12.
The Cowgirls only had four players available in the match, giving the Utes a 2-0 advantage at the start of the match.
The match began with doubles, where the Cowgirls lost the doubles point for only the fourth time this season. OSU's No. 12 pairing of Anastasiya Komar and Rose Marie Nijkamp defeated Sara Akid and Emma Valletta, 6-1. Komar and Nijkamp improve to 12-1 with nine consecutive wins.
Utah's wins came on courts two and three. Emma Kamper and Emmie Moore clinched the point for the Utes, defeating OSU's Melisa Ercan and Olivia Lincer, 6-3. OSU forfeited court three.
Singles began with the Cowgirls down 3-0, forfeiting courts five and six. The clinching point for Utah came in the first set on court one as the match was retired due to an injury. No. 121 Kamper led No. 74 Lincer before the match was retired.
Courts two, three and four went unfinished, with the Cowgirls ahead in each of them. Komar led Akid 3-2, while No. 27 Nijkamp led Moore 3-2 and Ercan leading Kalia Barksdale 3-0.
