STILLWATER – Oklahoma State distance runner Billah Jepkirui was named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week following her incredible performance at the Arkansas Spring Invitational this past weekend, the organization announced Monday.
Jepkirui is the second Cowgirl to be named National Athlete of the Week during the outdoor season, joining Kaela Edwards in 2016. She was also named National Athlete of the Week during this past indoor season after her pair of conference titles in the Mile and 1,000 Meters at the Big 12 Championships in February.
This past weekend, Jepkirui clocked the fifth-fastest time in NCAA history in the 1,500 Meters with her mark of 4:04.59 at the Arkansas Spring Invitational. Her time ranks No. 1 in the NCAA this season and was the second fastest in program history, behind only Sinclaire Johnson's 4:03.72 at the 2019 USATF Outdoor Championships.
