Malygina advances to qualifying draw in ITA All-American Championships

CARY, N.C. – Oklahoma State women's tennis freshman Arina Malygina punched her ticket to the qualifying draw at the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina, on Sunday.
Malygina continued her recent success with a 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-4 victory over Rice's Nithesa Selvaraj in the second round of pre-qualifying before returning later in the day to defeat Old Dominion's Ulyana Romanova, 6-4, 6-2, and secure her spot in the qualifying draw.
Malygina has now won three matches in two days to advance through pre-qualifying and will face Maryland's Emma Ghirardato at 8 a.m. CT.
Claudia Gasparovic dropped her second-round match to Miami's Jaquelyn Ogunwale, 6-4, 6-2.
Veronika Kliuch will also make her Cowgirl debut Monday in the qualifying draw, taking on Hannah Read of San Diego at 10 a.m. CT.
