Oklahoma State Cross Country and Track & Field welcomed the addition of Stacy Stanush as the director of operations for the Cowboys and Cowgirls in 2018.
Â
The work she did with the OSU program for the 2020-2021 seasons, during which the COVID-19 pandemic put the country and the world in uniquely challenging circumstances, was invaluable while its coaching staff and student-athletes navigated a competition landscape that presented unparalleled adversity.
Â
As a further testament to Stanush’s work with the Pokes in recent years, she took up a major share of the logistic and prep work that went into OSU’s first-ever NCAA Cross Country Championships as host in 2020 and 2022.
Â
While preparing both the Cowboy and Cowgirl cross country teams to compete as qualifiers, Stanush in conjunction with the NCAA and other OSU staff, also made necessary preparations for the 60+ NCAA DI institutions and dozens of individually qualified racers to compete in a pair of NCAA Championships on the newly renovated OSU Cross Country Course.
Before arriving at Oklahoma State, served as the director of operations at the University of Oklahoma after holding the same position at her alma mater, the University of the Incarnate Word, for three years while attending graduate school.
Stanush graduated magna cum laude from UIW in 2013 with a B.S. in kinesiology and an education minor and completed her master’s degree in administration.
Â
During her collegiate years, Stanush was a three year captain of the UIW track and field team. In 2011, Stanush was a member of the Lone Star Conference champion 4x400-meter relay and was a member of the school record 4x400-meter relay for the Cardinals in 2013. After finishing her athletic career with the Cardinals, Stanush took over as the director of operations for the men’s and women’s track and field teams.
During her time at UIW, Stanush was part of the first team that transitioned from Division II to Division I and the Southland Conference.
For a director of operations, no workday ever looks the same. Stanush’s duties include assisting the coaching staff with on-campus recruitment, handling team travel arrangements and directing home OSU cross country meets.
