Grapplers roll past No. 21 Fresno State 38-7

FRESNO, Calif. -- Three-straight pins propelled top-ranked Oklahoma State to a 38-7 win over 21st-ranked Fresno State Sunday night in front of a packed house at the Bulldogs' North Gym.
The win completed a doubleheader sweep for the Cowboys, who defeated Cal Poly earlier in the day 36-3. OSU moves to 5-0 on the season, while Fresno State falls to 1-1.
"I thought we wrestled pretty hard tonight, said OSU Head Coach John Smith. "Overall, I'm very, very happy with this team."
Ty Wilcox picked up a pin in 6:39 at 165 pounds over Fresno State's Darrick Duran for the first of the three falls.
At 174 pounds, Tyrone Lewis recorded his second fall of the day in just 34 seconds. Daniel Cormier followed that with his second pin of the day, this time in 2:38. Cormier had already posted four first-period takedowns before registering the fall.
Mark Mu?oz's win by forfeit at 197 pounds close out a lightning fast final four bouts that saw the Pokes score 24-team points.
The Pokes' James Huml also scored bonus points at 285 pounds with a 8-0 major decision over Fresno State's Loren Thompson, the win gave the Cowboys an early 4-0.
The 4-0 lead was short lived as Fresno State's No. 1-ranked 125-pounder Stephen Abas major decisioned OSU's Matt Brown 13-5. Abas was the 1999 NCAA Champion at 125 pounds.
Redshirt freshman Johnny Thompson wrestled the first dual match of his career against the Bulldogs 14th-ranked Derrick Hayes. Thompson scored a four-point move late in the second period that was the difference in a 9-6 win. The win moves Thompson's record 12-0 on the season.
OSU's No. 16 Jerrod Sanders also picked up a solid win at 141 pounds, decisioning FSU's 14th-ranked Ralph Lopez 5-3.
The hardest-fought match of the evening took place at 157 pounds where acquainted foes 14th-ranked Shane Roller and 13th-ranked Nathan Vasquez squared off with Vasquez winning a wild and controversial 11-7 affair.
OSU will now head for Reno, Nev., for the Reno Tournament of Champions on Wednesday. The tournament is slated to start at 9 a.m. (PST) with semifinals at 2 p.m. and finals at 5 p.m.
