Wrestling Dominates No. 16 Oregon

STILLWATER, Okla. - Top-ranked Oklahoma State made quick work of 16th-ranked Oregon, recording a 33-3 triumph in front of 3,047 fans at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
John Smith's Pokes improve to 6-0 on the season. The Duck's, coached by former Cowboy Chuck Kearney, fall to 3-2.
In the night's marquee matchup between No. 3 Daniel Cormier and No. 6 Doug Lee, OSU's Cormier won the battle with a 6-5 win. Cormier picked up takedowns in the first and second periods and held off a late flurry from Lee.
OSU's 11th-ranked Matt Brown lost a heartbreaker at 125 pounds when the Duck's 14th-ranked Shaun Williams recorded a takedown nine seconds into overtime to give Oregon its only points of the match.
At 133 pounds, redshirt freshman Johnny Thompson made his first start in front of a home crowd and won a 7-4 decision over 10th-ranked Brian Watson. Thompson improves to 16-0 on the season and remains undefeated in his Cowboy career at 29-0.
No. 2-ranked Reggie Wright opened the dual with a 15-8 decision over the Ducks' Tony Overstake. Overstake scored a takedown with two seconds remaining in the match to avoid surrendering a major decision.
At 157 pounds, OSU's 18th-ranked Shane Roller avenged a loss at the Reno Tournament of Champions with a 2-0 win over Oregon's 16th-ranked Eugene Harris. The Cowboy's Ty Wilcox followed suit with a 11-8 decision over Leif Williams, giving the Pokes a 9-0 lead.
Oklahoma State's redshirt freshman Tyrone Lewis made quick work of Oregon's Luke Larwin in the 174-pound tilt, picking up the pin in 1:04.
OSU's No. 2-ranked 197-pounder Mark Mu-oz controlled Oregon's seventh-ranked Chael Sonnen, winning a 10-3 decision. Oregon surrendered six more team points when heavyweight Eric Webb defaulted due to injury.
In the evening's final bout, Oregon sent Oklahoma native Branson Phillips to the mat at 141 pounds to square off against the Cowboys' Jerrod Sanders. Sanders used three takedowns and a reverse en route to picking up a 9-3 victory.
OSU travels to Minnesota on Sunday as the No. 1 Cowboys face the second-ranked Golden Gophers at 3 p.m.
