STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's tennis team defeated the 10th ranked Texas A&M Aggies, 4-3, on Sunday at the DeBois Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla. to improve to 8-3 on the season.

The Cowboys fell behind 1-0 after dropping all three doubles matches. Junior Yevgen Bondarchuk and freshman Jiri Spousta fell to No. 3 ranked Lester Cook and Ante Matijevic, 8-4, at the No. 1 doubles spot.

After falling behind 3-1 the Cowboys battled back to win the final three singles matches. Freshman Tomas Bohunicky gave OSU its first team point by defeating Cameron Fenner, 6-1, 6-4, at the No. 3 singles position.

Sophomore Boris Kuharic gave OSU momentum by outlasting Khaled El Dorry at the No. 3 singles spot, 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 (7-0). Senior Jiri Jezek tied the match 3-3 by defeating Matt Loucks in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, at the No. 4 singles position.

The match came down to the No. 6 singles contest between freshman Juan Felipe Diaz and freshman John Nallon. After dropping the first set Felipe Diaz battled back to win the second set and win the match in a third set tiebreaker, 2-6, 7-5, 7-6(7-4).

"I am very glad that Coach (Wadley) gave me the opportunity to play singles today," said Felipe Diaz. "It is a great feeling to have the match come down to me and being able to come through with the win."

Felipe Diaz improves to 3-0 on the year in singles play.

"This is an incredible win for me," said Felipe Diaz. "My hard work is starting to pay off and I am starting to get better."

The win is the first for the Cowboys against Texas A&M since 1997 with the Aggies winning the seven previous matches.

"This was just a tremendous effort on our singles play," said Head Coach James Wadley. "After a poor doubles effort our guys really battled back and performed well."

The Cowboys will return to action on Wednesday when they host Tulsa at 1 p.m.
