STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma State men's tennis team wrapped up the 2011 regular season at the DeBois Tennis Complex Tuesday afternoon, falling, 4-0, to in-state rival No. 36 Tulsa.
“They're just a little bit better team than us,” coach James Wadley said. “We knew they were a solid team and we'd have to have a great, great day to be able to upset them.”
The Golden Hurricane picked up the first point of the day after winning 8-4 and 8-3 at Nos. 3 and 1, respectively.
Tulsa continued its winning streak in singles play as TU picked up three straight-set wins at Nos. 4, 3 and 1 to go up 4-0 and end the dual.
“We agreed to end the match early because they have their conference tournament this weekend,” Wadley said. “It would be silly if they had someone get hurt after the match was already decided.”
The Cowboys wrap up the regular season with a 5-13 record and a 0-6 mark in conference play.
Oklahoma State resumes competition April 29 for the Big 12 Championships in Waco, Texas.
