Cowgirl Equestrian Falls at Top-Ranked Auburn, 11-8

AUBURN, Ala. - The Oklahoma State equestrian team fell to the top-ranked Auburn Tigers, 11-8, at the Auburn University Horse Center Saturday.
"The girls rode well but fell a little short today," head coach Larry Sanchez said. "Western lost 5-4 and hunt 6-4 to a very good Auburn team. We look forward to going against South Carolina tomorrow".
Despite being overcome by a three-point margin in team scores, the Cowgirls nearly knocked off the Tigers in raw scores, falling by a 1443.5-1442 margin.
Katy Krshka led the Cowgirls to a 3-2 victory in horsemanship on the afternoon. The freshman sensation defeated her Auburn counterpart, 75.5-72, earning an MVP for her efforts. The honor is her second in the discipline and fourth overall. She improved her record to 8-2 on the season. Senior Mamie Tomlin won her head-to-head matchup, 71-69.5, while redshirt-sophomore Lauren Halvorson pulled away with a 74-65 victory in the discipline.
Oklahoma State only managed one team point in reining as they fell 3-1 in the discipline. Sophomore Jenna Blumer succeeded as she earned a 66.5-58 victory. Senior Rachel Houchin tied her counterpart, 62-62.
Freshmen ruled the day for the Pokes in equitation over fences. Allison Joyce picked up her first career victory as a Cowgirl with a 79-70 win, and Maggie Gampfer earned a 77-76 win, her fourth in five tries.
Haydan Vosburg had the high score of the day for the Cowgirls in equitation on the flat, winning her exhibition matchup, 76-68. Senior Jordan White improved to 5-1 on the season with her 75-73 victory in the discipline. Junior Ellie Sparks added a 73-65 head-to-head win, but the Pokes fell in the discipline by a 3-2 margin.
The Cowgirls continue their tour of the SEC when they travel to Columbia, S.C., tomorrow to take on the sixth-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks.
