Cowgirls Fall Short Against Tigers, 10-9
Oklahoma State loses heartbreaker to Auburn to start 0-1 on the season
Auburn, Ala. -- The No. 5 Oklahoma State equestrian team fell to the third-ranked Auburn Tigers,10-9, in its season opener at the Auburn University Equestrian Center on Friday.
"I'm very proud of our girls today, they rode very well but came up a little short," OSU head coach Larry Sanchez said. "I like what I see out of this young team and see them riding well again tomorrow."
The Cowgirl's western team won with an overall score of 5-4, winning reining 3-2 and posting a 2-2 tie in horsemanship.
While the hunt seat squad fell 6-4, winning the equitation overs fences 3-2 and losing equitation on the flat 4-1.
Katy Krshka received the Most Outstanding Player for horsemanship.
Sammy Elser scored a 91 over fences, an OSU high score for the event, and also defeated her opponent 91-82.
Senior Taylor New had an overall high score of a 73 in reining and defeated her opponent.
Oklahoma State will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Columbia, S.C. to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks.
