Cowboys Remain Unbeaten With Road Win Over NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Oklahoma State men's tennis team improved to 5-0 on the year, as the 12th-ranked Cowboys knocked off North Carolina State, 4-3, on Sunday at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
Sunday's win marks the 13th time in team history that the Cowboys have been unbeaten through their first five matches. It's also the second time that OSU has reached that mark during head coach Jay Udwadia's tenure.
Sophomore Artur Dubinski made his OSU debut on Sunday during doubles play. The sophomore paired with Lukas Finzelberg teamed up to pick up the Cowboys' first win of the day, defeating NC State's Georgiy Malyshev and Michael Ogden, 6-4.
The fifth-ranked duo of Julian Cash and Arjun Kadhe quickly followed up their teammates with a win of their own on court one, dropping Igor and Ivan Saveljic, 6-4, to secure the doubles point for OSU. Sunday's triumph marks the fifth time in as many matches that Oklahoma State has claimed the doubles point. Cash and Kadhe's win also marked the 81st doubles win of Kadhe's career, moving the Pune, India native into second place on OSU's all-time wins list.
Kadhe was the first Cowboy to claim victory in singles play on Sunday, as the senior dropped NC State's Michael Ogden in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Kadhe's win pushes him to 5-0 during dual action and marks his team-high 23rd win across singles and doubles competiton this season.
His doubles partner Cash quickly added another point for the Cowboys, as he dropped No. 39 Nick Horton in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, on court one. The junior now has seven victories in singles play this year, including three over ranked opponents.
NC State was able to tie the match at 3-3, but Jurence Mendoza secured the Cowboys' fifth win of the season by knocking off Ivan Saveljic in straight sets, 7-5, 7-5, on court six. Sunday's win is the 10th of the year for Mendoza, making him the second Cowboy to reach double digits this season.
Mendoza and the Cowboys will now return to Stillwater for a three-match homestand next weekend, where they will face of with Alabama, UMKC and No. 2 Wake Forest. Their first matchup of the weekend will be against the Crimson Tide on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
