Cowboy Tennis Surfs Past Pepperdine Waves

LA JOLLA, CALIF.- Oklahoma State's men's tennis team continued its spring season on Thursday with a 4-0 victory over Pepperdine at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club.
Thursday's victory pushed the 15th-ranked Cowboys to a 13-3 record on the season and included their third straight victory over the Waves.
OSU would start off strong against Pepperdine as No. 38 Julian Cash and Luke Hammond recorded the first doubles win of the day, defeating Dennis Uspensky Vaise and Dane Esses, 6-3 on court one. Cash now sits tied for second place with Oleksandr Nedovyesov for career doubles wins during the Big 12 era with 75.
Artur Dubinski and Jurence Mendoza, secured the doubles point for the Cowboys defeating Max Mendelsohn and Yusuf Khamis in tiebreak, 7-6 (7-2).
In singles action against Pepperdine, No. 67 Cash was the first Cowboy to tack on another point for his team, as the Brighton, England native posted a decisive 6-2, 6-3 victory over Uspensky.
Just seconds later, Dubinski racked up another point for the Cowboys defeating Dane Esses on court two, 6-3, 6-2.
Freshman Brady Draheim locked up the Oklahoma State victory as he defeated Mendelsohn, 6-2, 1-6, 7-5. Draheim is 10-2 on the season and boasts a perfect, 5-0 record in dual action.
The win also marked the 105th for coach Jay Udwadia at Oklahoma State tying him with former OSU men's tennis coach Myron Roderick for second most program wins.
The Cowboys return to action tomorrow in La Jolla as they compete at the prestigious Pacific Coast Doubles Championship. An OSU tandem has won the tournament each of the last three years.
