No. 3 Cowgirls Take Down Sixth-Ranked TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas-Â The third-ranked Oklahoma State equestrian team narrowly defeated No. 6Â TCU 10-9 at Diamond Creek Ranch on Friday.
"Our girls stepped it up and rallied at the halfway point of the meet," head coach Larry Sanchez said. "We had strong rides across the board to beat a good TCU team."
The meet began with Fences and Reining. The Horned Frogs took Fences, 4-1. Katie Schell improved to 4-3 on the season with an 85-82 victory over Alex Beneson. Abigail Brayman and Freshman Sydney North both came within one point of their opponents.Â
OSU cut TCU's lead to one point after Reining. Stephanie Helsen took home the win against Claire Dittrich, 67-66.5. Hannah Lovrien defeated Bella Andrews, 69-68.5. Captain Hannah Mitchell came within half a point of MOP Carly Lombard. Kristi Wiggins secured the third point of the event for the Cowgirls with a 69.5-0 performance against Madyson Buchanan.
In Flat, the Horned Frogs took the event 3-1. Katie Schell continued her dominant season in Flat with an 83-81 victory over Misty Redd, improving to 6-1 on the year. Hannah Janson tied in her matchup against Isabella Baxter, 88-88.Â
The Cowgirls swept Horsemanship, 5-0, in a necessary performance that secured the victory. Harley Huff improved to 5-2 this season with a 72-70.5 win over Cydney Benes. Cassidy Watters earned her first career MOP against Josie Mootz, 73.5-71.5. Team captain Emma Verplank continued her strong season with a 73-72 win over Anna Hauter, improving to 6-1. Â Sydnee Gemar earned her third victory of the season, besting Mattie Dukes, 66-65.5. Freshman JoJo Roberson topped TCU senior Jamie Cook by a wide margin, 73.5-65.5.Â
OSU will conclude the fall season as they host South Carolina Nov. 23 in Stillwater.
