Cowboys Fall to UCLA in Second Round of NCAA Championship

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team fell to No. 11 UCLA, 4-0, in the second round of the NCAA Championship Saturday afternoon at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
The No. 25 Cowboys (16-12, 1-4 Big 12) started fast in doubles play when No. 41 Emile Hudd and Matej Vocel defeated Govind Nanda and Connor Rapp of UCLA, 6-3.
However, UCLA took the next two doubles contests to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Bryce Pereira and Patrick Zahraj bested OSU's Artur Dubinski and Luke Hammond, 6-4. UCLA's No. 2 Maxime Cressy and Keegan Smith clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over No. 36 Mathieu Scaglia and Maxim Tybar.
In singles action, UCLA took five first sets on the way to the sweep. No. 68 Nanda defeated Scaglia, 6-1, 6-2, to give the Bruins a 2-0 match lead.
No. 36 Smith beat Dubinski on court two, 6-3, 6-2, to bring the Bruins within one point of advancing to the Sweet 16.
UCLA's No. 18 Cressy clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-3, victory over No. 34 Vocel on court one.
Oklahoma State finished the season with 16 wins, marking the sixth consecutive season the Pokes have reached at least 15 victories. This was also their sixth-straight NCAA Championship appearance.
