No. 20 Oklahoma State Suffers Second Loss Of The Year To No. 22 Ole Miss

OXFORD, MISS. -Â The No. 20 Oklahoma State Cowboys lost to the No. 22 Ole Miss Rebels on Friday evening, 4-2, in Oxford, Miss.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys travelledto Oxford, Miss. to take on the Ole Miss Rebels in a battle between two top-25 teams. OSU would drop the doubles point to start the day by losing two of three matches.

Luke Hammond and Emile Huddwon the first match over Lukas Engelhardtand Nikola Slavic, 6-1. The first loss would come from No. 1 MatejVoceland DominikKellovsky, as they fell to Tim Sandkaulenand Finn Reynolds, 6-4. Ole Miss would clinch the doubles point with a 6-3 win coming from Simon Junk and Jan SorenHainover Brady Draheimand Mathieu Scaglia.

The Cowboys lost the first two singles matches of the day starting with Mathieu Scagliafalling to Nikola Slavic, 6-2, 6-0. Luke Hammond, who played on court six today, lost to Simon Junk, 6-1, 6-1, to put the Cowboys in an 0-3 hole.

The first singles win of the night came when No. 87 Emile Hudddefeated Finn Reynolds on court three, 7-6(2), 6-4. OSU would score its second and final point of the match thanks to No. 41 MatejVocelwho defeated No. 35 Tim Sandkaulenin a three-set battle, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. Ole Miss would clinch the match when Jan SorenHaindefeated No. 91 DominikKellovsky, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Â

This is Oklahoma State's second loss of the season, but both losses have come at the hands of top-25 opponents. The Cowboys fell to No. 18 Columbia at the ITA Kickoff and now fall to No. 22 Ole Miss.Â

OSU now moves to 4-2 on the season. The team will look to bounce back in a match against the Memphis Tigers on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
