The Basics
No. 7 Oklahoma State Equestrian rounds out its fall schedule by traveling to Auburn to take on Bridgewater Thursday in a Jumping Seat-only meet before battling the third-ranked Tigers on Friday. The Cowgirls are 2-2 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. Bridgewater is 2-1 on the year and coming off a win over Sacred Heart. Auburn is 5-1 with wins in three straight.
About the Cowgirls
The Cowgirls are led by 24th-year head coach Larry Sanchez, fourth-year assistant Laura Brainard and first-year assistant Carter Anderson.
Fresh Face on Staff
Carter Anderson joins the Cowgirl staff as the Jumping Seat assistant coach after one season at UT-Martin, where she was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Equestrian Assistant Coach of the Year. In her one season on the UT-Martin staff, Anderson oversaw a group of jumping seat riders that was amongst the ECAC conference's best. The jumping unit collected 44 victories and 10 MOPs in fences to go along with 38 wins and eight MOPs in flat.
Cowgirl MOPs
Vs Baylor: Pacyna (Fences), McDowall (Horsemanship)
At TCU: Reinauer (Flat)
Vs. Fresno State: King (Fences, Flat), Jo. Roberson (Horsemanship), Mitchell (Reining)
Oklahoma State wins would..
- Give it back-to-back wins against Auburn
- Improve the Cowgirls to 2-0 against Bridgewater
- Put it over .500 for the first time this season
Who to Watch
"It's exciting to get back on the road again and compete," head coach Larry Sanchez said. "We ride against Bridgewater College with our Jumping Seat squad and then against Auburn, with both disciplines, on Friday. It should be a great road test to finish out the fall portion of our season."
• Hope King was dominant in the Cowgirls win over Fresno State, claiming MOP honors in both Flat and Fences for the first time in her career. She matched her career-high in her 86-85 Fences win and set a new season high in her 83-73 Flat win.
• Captain JoJo Roberson earned the first MOP of her senior campaign with a 78-70 Horsemanship win against Fresno State. She also earned a point in Reining, winning 71-67.
• Molly Mitchell continued her winning ways against Fresno State, earning a Reining point with a 72.5-72 victory. The win marked her third straight and earned her MOP honors for the first time this season.
• Riley Hogan continues to impress in her sophomore season, getting an 85-77 Fences win against Fresno State to remain undefeated on the season. She's now 10-2 in her career dating back to last season.
• Sophomore Peyton Baxter has stepped up for the Cowgirls when called upon this season, earning her second Horsemanship win of the season, 76-73.5, against Fresno State. She's now 2-1 in her first three career rides.
