Cowgirl Tennis Handles Louisiana Tech and Oral Roberts In Doubleheader

TULSA, Okla. – Oklahoma State's 21st-ranked Cowgirl tennis team picked up two wins on Monday after shutting out Louisiana Tech and Oral Roberts, 4-0 each, at the Bernis Duke Tennis Center.
The Cowgirls move to 4-3 on the season with the victories and have additionally completed its third sweep of the season.
For the first match of the day, the Cowgirls faced the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech. Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez made an opening statement on court two, winning the matchup, 6-3. Kristina Novak and Alana Wolfberg fell, 6-4, on court one.
It all came down to court three where Martina Zerulo made her season debut. She partnered with Lucia Peyre to defeat Louisiana Tech's Alexia Romero and Valentina Vasquez, 6-4, and secured the doubles point.
In singles, Miyamoto came out swinging as she defeated Ilana Tetruashvili, 6-0, 6-1. Wolfberg and Gonzalez followed suit by besting their opponents, 6-1, 6-1, and 6-1, 6-2, respectively.
The competition against Oral Roberts directly followed. Miyamoto and Gonzalez continued their winning ways and bested Aliksandra Lebedeva and Reagan Miley, 6-2. Peyre and Zerulo rolled to a 6-2 victory on court three.
OSU rode the momentum directly into singles with three different Cowgirls winning in straight sets. Novak routed Lebedeva, 6-3, 6-0, on court one while Wolfberg secured her second singles victory of the day, 6-0, 6-1. Sofia Rojas clinched match point by defeating Reagan Miley, 6-2, 6-0.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Feb. 24 and 25 as it hosts Wichita State and South Carolina for a doubleheader at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
