Cowgirl Tennis Handles TCU To Remain Undefeated In Conference Play

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's 17^th-ranked women's tennis team earned its third conference win of the season defeating No. 61 TCU, 4-1, on Friday evening at the Greenwood Tennis Center.

The Cowgirls improved to 10-4 overall and a perfect 3-0 in Big 12 play on the year. Oklahoma State improved its all-time record against TCU to 16-9.

OSU started the evening by taking the doubles point after victories on the top two courts. No. 31 Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez moved to 9-0 on the year after defeating No. 43 Yu-Chin Tsai and Helena Narmont, 6-1.

Martina Zerulo and Lucia Peyre dropped their match to Destinee Martins and Tiphanie Lemaitre, 6-4, after a back-and-forth battle. Kristina Novak and Sofia Rojas rose to the occasion and delivered a 7-6 (3) clutch victory to seal a Cowgirl point. Oklahoma State secured their eleventh doubles point out of the fourteen matches this year.

Following an exciting doubles match, Peyre capped off an impressive win by cruising to a 6-2, 7-5 victory in straight sets over Martins. The Horned Frogs scored its lone point of the afternoon via Lemaitre's, 7-6 (5), 6-2, defeat of Novak.

Rojas put on a show during her 6-2, 6-4 victory over Horned Frog Narmont. After a slow start, Miyamoto fought back and sealed the match-clinching point for the Cowgirls with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Tsai.

Next up for OSU is No. 31 Texas Tech on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Stillwater.
