Cowgirl Tennis Comes Up Short Against Tenth-Ranked Iowa State

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's seventeenth-ranked Cowgirl tennis team came up short in a tightly contested match against No. 10 Iowa State, 4-2, at the Greenwood Tennis Center on Friday.
With the loss, the Cowgirls fall to 11-5 overall and 4-1 in conference.
The day began with doubles where Sofia Rojas and Kristina Novak fell to Ange Oby Kajuru and Xinyi Nong, 6-4, and Martina Zerulo and Lucia Peyre dropped their match to Miska Kadleckova and Sofia Cabezas, 6-3.
In singles action, Rojas erased the Cowgirl deficit with a dominant victory over Chie Kezuka, winning by a score of 6-0, 6-2.
Alana Wolfberg started slow but never turned back once she found her rhythm. Trailing 5-2 in the first set, Wolfberg showed tremendous resiliency battling back to win set one, 7-5. Wolfberg came out swinging in the second set and the rest was history as she gave OSU another point with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over No. 53 Kajuru.
Novak lost to 51st-ranked Thasaporn Naklo and Peyre dropped her match to No. 96 Kadleckova. Iowa State's Kuearum secured the match for the Cyclones after defeating Zerulo, 6-4, 7-6 (5).
Next up, OSU will celebrate its seniors and host West Virginia in a conference showdown on Sunday at 12 p.m. at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
