Cowgirl Tennis Secures Seventh Sweep of the Year

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Oklahoma State's 18th-ranked women's tennis team tacked on another conference victory with a 4-0 sweep over No. 22 Kansas at the Jayhawk Tennis Center on Friday.
OSU started the evening by taking the doubles point after victories on court one and two. Alana Wolfberg and Kristina Novak started out with a bang as they secured a quick victory over Maria Titova and Tamari Gagoshidze, 6-1.
Sofia Rojas and Lucia Peyre dropped their match to Roxana Manu and Jocelyn Massey, 6-3. With the doubles point up for grabs, No. 18 Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez rose to the occasion and delivered a 7-5 clutch victory over the 50th-ranked doubles duo to seal a Cowgirl point.
The Cowgirls carried over their success into singles play, earning three quick points to seal the match. On court five, Rojas got things started extending the OSU lead with a victory over Kansas' Silvia Maria Costache in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.
Shortly after, Lucia Peyre added to the OSU lead by besting Manu, 6-3, 6-0, on court three. Miyamoto secured the match for the Cowgirls after a 6-4, 6-3, victory over Janse Van Vuren.
