Cowboy Tennis Falls to No. 5 Texas

STILLWATER — The 33rd-ranked Oklahoma State's men's tennis team fell to No. 5 Texas, 6-1, on Friday evening at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
The shorthanded Cowboys moved to 15-7 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. The Longhorns improved to 17-3 and 5-0 in the Big 12.
Doubles play started on court two, with Cowboys Alex Garcia and Francisco Pini taking down Pierre-Yves Bailly and Eshan Talluri, 6-4. The Gracia and Pini duo improved to 2-0.
The Longhorns court three pairing Cleeve Harper and Micah Braswell defeated Ty Wunderlich and Leighton Allen, 6-3.Â
The doubles point came down to a ranked matchup on court one. In their first doubles appearance together this spring, OSU's 30th-ranked Tyler Zink and Isaac Becroft came back from a 5-2 deficit and outlasted Texas' No. 62 Eliot Spizzirri and Siem Woldeab in a tiebreaker, 7-6(4).Â
With the doubles point secured, it marked the first time OSU won the doubles point against Texas since 2019.Â

UT's No. 3 Braswell broke the 1-1 match tie on court two, taking down 78th-ranked Becroft, 6-3, 6-3. Becroft fell 14-3 on the year.Â

In his third singles start of the year, Wunderlich fell to Texas' Lucas Brown, 6-3, 6-4.Â

After being down 5-2 in the second set, 71st-ranked Garcia fought back and forced a tiebreaker against No. 40Â Giles Arnaud Bailly, but ultimately fell short losing 1-6, 6-7(8).Â

The Cowboys will return to action on Sunday at 1 p.m. against No. 31 Baylor at the Greenwood Tennis Center.Â
