Cowboy Tennis Drops Opener to UCSB

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Oklahoma State's men's tennis team dropped its season opener to UCSB, 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon at the Arnhold Tennis Center.
The win moved the Gauchos to 1-0 on the year, while the Cowboys fell to 0-1.
The Gauchos claimed the doubles point after Gianluca Brunkow and Dominique Rolland defeated Alessio Basile and Matei Onofrei, 6-3, and Conrad Brown and Charlie Underwood took down Isaac Becroft and Nicolas Kobelt, 6-3.
Thomas Gadecki and Derek Pham left their match against Diego Morias and Lucca Liu unfinished while trailing 4-2.
In singles play, UCSB grabbed a 2-0 lead after No. 66 Morais defeated Kobelt in his Cowboy debut, 6-2, 6-2.
The Gauchos went on to clinch the match after No. 94 Rolland bested Basile, 6-2, 6-4, and Underwood defeated Gadecki, 6-4, 6-3.
The Cowboys nabbed their first point on the afternoon on court one, as No. 108 Becroft upset No. 21 Brunkow, 6-3, 6-4. OSU tallied its second point of the afternoon as Pham took down No. 122 Liu, 6-4, 7-6 (5).
In the afternoon's final match, Bracks defeated No. 117 Brown, 6-3, 6-7 (4), 1-0 (10-5).
The Cowboys head down the road to face No. 16 San Diego on January 18 at the Hogan Tennis Center.
