Cowboy Wrestling Moves Up to Fourth in NWCA Coaches Poll

STILLWATER. – The Oklahoma State wrestling team moved up to fourth in the NWCA Coaches Poll, while true freshman Sergio Vega, Landon Robideau and Dee Lockett jumped in the rankings after their performances at last weekend's National Duals Invitational.
All 10 Cowboys in the starting lineup have been ranked in the top 20 of the last two polls.
The Big 12 has seven other teams in the poll, including No. 6 Iowa State, No. 14 Northern Iowa, No. 16 Missouri, No. 17 South Dakota State, No. 18 Oklahoma, No. 20 West Virginia and No. 24 Wyoming. Utah Valley and Arizona State are also receiving votes.
True freshmen Vega (141), Robideau (157) and Lockett (165) all moved up to No. 2 at their respective weight classes after going a collective 12-0 at the National Duals Invitational. Vega's weekend included wins over three-time All-American and NCAA finalist Brock Hardy, All-Americans Nassir Bailey and Jack Ryan and NCAA qualifier Josh Saunders. Robideau picked up three bonus-point wins on the weekend, with his only decision coming against No. 4 Jackson Arrington. A win over three-time All-American and NCAA finalist Michael Caliendo highlighted Lockett's weekend.
At the back of the lineup, Zack Ryder (184), Cody Merrill (197) and Konner Doucet (HWT) are all slotted inside the top 10 for the third consecutive week, coming in at Nos. 9, 9 and 8, respectively. 125-pounder Troy Spratley moved to No. 8 after his 2-2 weekend.
Other Cowboys in the rankings include No. 13 Casey Swiderski, No. 16 Alex Facundo and No. 17 Richard Figueroa II.
