Ryder, Swiderski Surge in Latest Rankings, Cowboys Remain Fifth

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State wrestling team is ranked No. 5 in the NWCA Coaches Poll for a second straight week,while Zack Ryder and Casey Swiderski moved into the top five of their weight classes after their performances at the NWCA All-Star Classic.
The Big 12 boasts seven other members inside the top 25, including No. 6 Iowa State, No. 13 Northern Iowa, No. 16 Missouri, No. 17 South Dakota State, No. 18 Oklahoma, No. 21 West Virginia and No. 25 Wyoming, with Utah Valley and Arizona State both receiving votes.
Swiderski (149) and Ryder (184) made the biggest jumps in their respective classes after picking up wins at the NWCA All-Star Classic over the weekend. Swiderski's win came over Michigan's three-time All-American Lachlan McNeil, and Ryder collected a major decision over Maryland's Jaxon Smith. Smith had only given up bonus points twice in his career before facing Ryder, once against Carter Starocci and the other against Aaron Brooks. Ryder's major decision was the lone bonus-point win of the All-Star Classic.
Other Cowboys inside the top 10 include No. 2 Troy Spratley (125), No. 8 Richard Figueroa II (133), No. 9 Konner Doucet (HWT), and No. 10 Cody Merrill (197).
Additionally, Teague Travis (157) moved up three spots to No. 15, Alex Facundo (174) slid up one spot to No. 17 and Cale Hughes (141) jumped up three spots to No. 18.
Oklahoma State opens its season in Gallagher-Iba Arena against No. 19 Stanford on November 7 at 7 p.m on ESPN+.
