No. 25 Cowgirl Tennis Sweeps Houston in Conference Opener

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's No. 25 women's tennis team swept Houston, 4-0, Friday night at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
OSU improved to 7-5 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 play and extended its win streak in conference matches to 16. The win also snapped a three-match losing streak and kept the Cowgirls
undefeated at home this season.
Oklahoma State began the match by winning the doubles point as the pairing of Kylie Collins and Marcela Lopez defeated Houston's pairing of Heta Nuutinen and Iva Sepa, 6-2, to give OSU the advantage. Next, Cowgirls Gracie Epps and Melissa Ercan clinched the point as they defeated Gabreila Cortes and Sophie Schouten, 6-3.
OSU's No. 72 pairing of Anastasiya Komar and Rose Marie Nijkamp's match went unfinished, with the pair trailing Houston's Elizaveta Morozova and Santa Strombacha, 3-5.
Singles play saw its first point go to OSU when No. 88 Komar defeated Sepa, 6-2, 6-1. The next point for the Cowgirls came from Nijkamp as she beat Nuutinen, 6-0, 6-3.
The clinching point for Oklahoma State came when No. 44 Epps defeated Valerria Krokhotina, 6-1, 6-2, to wrap up the win.
Three singles matches went unfinished, with Ercan leading No. 103 Strombacha, 5-4, Collins ahead of Morozova, 6-3, 3-0, and No. 89 Lopez leading Schouten, 7-6 (7-3), 1-1, when play was stopped.
