Cowboys In The NFL: Preseason Recap
August 24, 2025 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – With the NFL regular season fast approaching, several former Cowboys made their presence known in August's preseason action.
The Oklahoma State Football program was well-represented on NFL preseason rosters this year, boasting 34 former Pokes across 22 teams.
After being selected by the Miami Dolphins in the sixth round of this year's draft, Ollie Gordon II took full advantage of his preseason opportunities, displaying the unique combination of strength and explosiveness that earned him recognition as one of the premier collegiate running backs in the country. In three preseason games, Gordon turned 26 carries into 146 yards, a healthy average of 4.8 yards per carry. Gordon also scored a touchdown on the ground and tacked on 3 receptions for 48 yards to his impressive campaign. After proving his ability to be a lead back at the next level, the former Doak Walker Award winner and 2023 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year is poised to have a meaningful role in Miami's high-powered offense as a rookie.

Fellow rookie Nick Martin, who earned First Team All-Big 12 honors and was named a team captain in 2023, proved why he was the first Cowboy off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft. After being selected in the third round by the San Francisco 49ers in April, the standout linebacker posted 19 total tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble across three preseason games, exhibiting potential to bolster a San Francisco defensive unit that surrendered the fourth-most points per game in the league last season.

After wrapping up a legendary collegiate career that saw him break Oklahoma State program records for both career receptions and games played, Brennan Presley signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent following this year's draft. The standout wide receiver's electric playstyle translated to 11 receptions for 164 yards and a touchdown across three preseason games. Presley also added 4 carries for 38 yards, showcasing the versatility that helped make him a household name in Stillwater.

Mason Rudolph returned to the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency this offseason, where he spent the first six seasons of his professional career before spending the 2024-25 season with the Tennessee Titans. Rudolph completed 18 of his 23 pass attempts during his 2025 preseason campaign, posting an impressive 78.3% completion percentage as well as two passing touchdowns.

The 2023 fourth-round pick has accumulated 37 total tackles across 28 games thus far in his professional career.
