Cowgirl Golf in third place after round one of Carmel Cup
August 29, 2025 | Cowgirl Golf
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – The 20th-ranked Oklahoma State women's golf team kicked off its 2025-26 season at Pebble Beach on Friday.
The Cowgirls combined for a 7-over par, 367 stroke round, good for third place on the day. OSU trails the first-place Texas A&M Aggies by 14 strokes heading into Saturday's action.
The Pokes were led by their two highest-ranked golfers, Grace Kilcrease (No. 34) and Marta Silchenko (No. 58). The duo finished in third and seventh place, respectively, and are two of only 10 golfers to shoot under par on Friday.
Kilcrease, the reigning Carmel Cup champion, paired a front-nine 34 with an even-par 36 on the back half, finishing two strokes under par with a final score of 70. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Kilcrease has shot par-or-better in her first round of the season.
A scorching 3-under performance on the front nine guided Silchenko to a 71-stroke round (-1). The third-year Cowgirl picked up five birdies, with four of them coming in the first nine holes.
Sophomore Summer Lee was the third and final Cowgirl to shoot par-or-better on the day. Lee shot an even-par 72 and demonstrated valuable consistency, firing a 36 on both the front and back nine. Lee sits in 11th place heading into the weekend.
Junior Ellie Bushnell and sophomore Lucy Darr each finished at 5-over par (77).
True freshman Yu-Chu Chen carded a 79 in her collegiate debut.
The Cowgirls will return to Pebble Beach tomorrow at 9:55 a.m. CDT for the second of three rounds in the Carmel Cup.
