Bob Schick Brings Veteran Stability to Revamped Cowboys’ Line
September 18, 2025 | Cowboy Football
Stillwater - Oklahoma State entered the 2025 season with a rebuilt offensive line after graduating most of last year's starters. The Cowboys turned to the transfer portal, adding left tackle Markell Samuel from Appalachian State, center Kasen Carpenter from Tulsa, Grant Seagren from Nebraska and 25-year-old Bob Schick from Virginia Tech. Through two games, Schick has been exactly what OSU hoped for — a steady, veteran anchor at left guard.
Named a game captain in the opener against UT Martin, Schick has started the first two games and brings a résumé that spans 38 appearances and 23 starts with the Hokies, where he allowed just one sack across his final two seasons. Before his three years in Blacksburg, he helped Snow College reach the NJCAA national title game in 2020-21, following a two-year mission trip to Colombia after high school.
As the Cowboys look to bounce back from their week two loss at No. 6 Oregon, Schick says the bye week gave the group time to reset.
"It kind of helped us to come together a little bit," Schick said. "It's been really good to see guys more coming together and more investment and just trying to pour more into the program."
He's also been impressed by the growth of a line featuring new faces at nearly every spot.
"It's been really good to see the young guys step up," Schick said. "Nuku [Mafi] moving from the right side to the left, and Grant [Seagren] coming in on the right side, hopping in at tackle and having a great game."
Now the oldest player on the roster, Schick is leaning on experience and leadership to help OSU's revamped front pave the way for the Cowboys' offense in 2025 — and to prove, as he puts it, that they can "go out there and score…hold our blocks…[and] prove all the naysayers wrong."
