STILLWATER – Donovan Woods is back with Oklahoma State Athletics.
A quarterback, linebacker and team leader from 2004-07, Woods recently stepped into a new role as Associate Athletic Director of Development for the OSU Foundation.
As part of his new role, he will focus on cultivating and stewarding athletic support for the institution.
He has been working with the OSU Foundation for more than 12 years, primarily serving OSU's Oklahoma City campus. Now, he returns to OSU Athletics, a place where he made his name by contributing in any way the team needed.
In 2004, he led the team in passing yards. In 2005 and again in 2006, he led the team in passes intercepted as a defensive player and in 2007, he led the team in tackles. Since tackles have been kept as an official statistic beginning in 1964, no Cowboy has had as productive of a career on both offense and defense as Woods.
He was a leader on the 2006 OSU football team that beat Alabama in the Independence Bowl and the 2007 squad that beat Indiana in the Insight Bowl. He was voted Defensive MVP of the Insight Bowl win over the Hoosiers.
After graduating from Oklahoma State in 2007 with a marketing degree, Woods went on to play in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys. He was part of a Steelers team that won Super Bowl XLIII in 2009.
Woods is part of a prominent Cowboy Football family, with brother Rashaun an All-American for OSU in 2002 and 2003 and brother D'Juan an all-Big 12 selection in 2004 and 2005.
"I am extremely blessed to continue to be part of the Cowboy Family," Woods said. "My time as a student-athlete, my role at our OSU-OKC campus, and now as a part of Athletics provides me with a unique perspective of Oklahoma State University. I can't think of a better place to continue positively impacting the STATE's Institution."
In his new role, Woods will remain in Oklahoma City and office out of the OSU-OKC campus. Those interested in connecting with Donovan related to support for OSU Athletics can do so via email at dwoods@osugiving.com.
