The Basics
Oklahoma State's fifth-ranked equestrian team heads to Waco to take on Big 12 rival Baylor at 11 a.m. on Friday. The two teams last met in Stillwater on November 7, where the Cowgirls continued their success against the Bears with a 13-6 victory. Oklahoma State claimed three Most Outstanding Performer honors in the meet, with June Roberson, Emma Filiatreau and Blake Rowan each earning MOPs as part of their impressive campaigns. A win against Baylor would mark the 200th victory in program history for the Cowgirls and head coach Larry Sanchez, who has led the program since its inception.
About the Cowgirls                                                            Â
Head coach Larry Sanchez, in his 27th year at the helm, leads the Cowgirls alongside seventh-year assistant Laura Brainard, third-year assistant Alle Durkin, first-year assistant Ashley Duda and Jody Brainard, who is in his third year with the program and first as an assistant coach.
Fun in the Fall                                                          Â
After losing its first contest of the season at TCU, OSU responded with four consecutive wins to give the Cowgirls a 4-1 record heading into the spring. This marks the first time the Pokes have won four of their first five meets since the 2021-2022 season which saw the Cowgirls named National Champions.
In the month of November, the Cowgirls went 3-0 and four riders earned a combined six monthly awards. June Roberson and Emma Filiatreau were named the Arion Rider of the Month for the NCEA in Horsemanship and Reining respectively.Â
Conference Leaders                                                      Â
The Cowgirls closed the fall with a 2–1 record in Big 12 competition, tying TCU atop the conference standings. Oklahoma State's 4–1 overall record is the best in the league. Stillwater will host the Big 12 Championship this season, where the Cowgirls will look to capture their sixth consecutive conference title.
